多様化した現代美術の中で、ART/X/TOYAMAは富山県という地方都市に制作の場をもつ作家たちが、県内・県外及び海外の作家たちに呼びかけ、新しい波動を起こそうではないかと作家自身で作り上げてきた“富山発信”の現代美術展です。
1993年、1994年、1997年は富山県民会館美術館（富山市）、2002年からは会場を魚津市新川文化ホールに移し、室内展示場・野外広場で開催以来、2006年、2010年、2014年、2018年、2022年と４年ごとに開催してきました。そして発表活動の輪を県外及び海外（フランス・韓国・トルコ・ロシア・ポーランド等）にも拡げていった情熱と多様な方向性をもつ展覧会として注目と好評を得てまいりました。
未知なるもの“X”への挑戦、美術家たちの更なる熱意と期待は大きく、2026年５月 第10回記念富山国際現代美術展「2026 ART/X/TOYAMA」を開催します。

-Contemporary Art from Toyama-
Amid the diverse landscape of contemporary art, ART/X/TOYAMA is a contemporary art exhibition initiated by artists based in Toyama Prefecture—a regional city—who have reached out to fellow artists within the prefecture, across Japan, and abroad to create a new wave of artistic expression.
Held at the Toyama Prefectural Citizens’ Hall Art Museum (Toyama City) in 1993, 1994, and 1997, the exhibition moved to the Shinkawa Cultural Hall in Uozu City in 2002. Since then, it has been held every four years—in 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022—utilizing both indoor exhibition spaces and outdoor plazas. As an exhibition characterized by passion and diverse directions, it has garnered attention and acclaim for expanding its reach beyond the prefecture to include international destinations such as France, South Korea, Turkey, Russia, and Poland.
With a strong desire to challenge the unknown “X” and the growing enthusiasm and anticipation of the artists, we will hold the 10th Anniversary Toyama International Contemporary Art Exhibition, “2026 ART/X/TOYAMA,” in May 2026.
